What to do if the leaves of mirror grass turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of mirror grass turn yellow

1. Control water and change soil

Reason: If you water the mirror grass too much during maintenance, unnecessary moisture will be produced in the potting soil. Its roots will be soaked in water, making it easy to have difficulty breathing. Over time, the roots will rot, so its leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Stop watering immediately and tilt the flowerpot to pour out excess water. It is best to trim off the rotten roots after removing the plant from the pot and then replace it with new soil for maintenance.

2. Supplementary lighting

Reason: It likes to grow under sufficient diffuse light. If during the cultivation period, the plant is not exposed to sunlight for a long period of time and grows in a dark place, its leaves will not be able to photosynthesize normally and will turn yellow.

Treatment method: Move the potted plants to a sunny place in time, let them see more sunlight, and place them in a location with sufficient scattered light as much as possible. It cannot be exposed to strong sunlight, especially in midsummer, as this can easily burn the plant.

3. Control fertilizer and irrigation

Reason: Mirror grass needs fertilizer during its growth period, but do not apply a large amount of fertilizer when fertilizing, and do not use raw fertilizer. These two incorrect fertilization methods can easily cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Treatment method: temporarily stop fertilizing and fill the flower pot with water to allow excess fertilizer and raw manure to be lost with the water. If the yellowing of leaves is severe, the plant needs to be repotted.
