How to plant Clivia? Can it be cultivated hydroponically?

1. Planting method

1. Planting time: Planting can actually be done in spring, autumn and winter, but the prerequisite is that the temperature is suitable. The best planting temperature is 20-25℃, which is the most suitable environment for embryo growth.

2. Breeding medium: Before planting, prepare the flower pots and medium for planting. The flowerpot should be breathable, and the soil can be made of wood shavings, sawdust, or fine sand. After preparation, it needs to be disinfected, then the substrate is placed in the flowerpot and leveled for use.

3. Seed treatment: Select some seeds in good condition, pour a little warm water in a bowl, and put the seeds in. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to soak, and after taking out the seeds, they need to be dried in the sun for 1 to 2 hours. Note that the water temperature should be between 30-35℃, not too high or too low.

4. Planting: When planting, the seeds should be placed with the eyes facing downwards and there should be some distance between the seeds. After planting, cover with about 2 to 3 cm of sawdust and flatten it. Spray it with water and place it in a ventilated place. The seeds will germinate in about half a month.

2. Can hydroponics be used for breeding?

Clivia can be grown in water, and it can grow well both in soil and in water. It is more convenient to grow it in water. You don’t have to water it all the time. You just need to pay attention to the light and change the water and add nutrient solution appropriately. Moreover, hydroponic cultivation will be relatively more beautiful, and you can also see the condition of its root system, and any poor growth can be dealt with in time.
