How to grow water hibiscus

How to grow water hibiscus

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Choose sticky soil to place in the pot.

2. Light: Place it in a place with bright scattered light and sufficient light. Once the position is determined, do not move it at will, which will affect its coupling and germination.

3. Watering: Since it is an aquatic plant, when you first start to grow it, the depth of the water should not be too deep, just 3 cm. If you use tap water, it is best to leave it for a day or two before using it to prevent the temperature difference of the water from causing damage to the plant. After the leaves grow out, fill it with water.

4. Fertilization: Because there is limited fertilizer in the pot, you need to add fertilizer to the pot to ensure its growth needs. Apply 2 to 3 times a month.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Seed propagation: Find a healthy seed, grind its outer seed coat, and then soak the seed. Change the water frequently to keep the water clear. It will sprout after about a week, and take root after two weeks, so move to the pot. Don't water the plant too deeply.

2. Propagation by division: Select healthy and disease-free lotus roots and plant them from March to May, as the survival rate will be relatively high. Do not plant too early in the north to prevent cold currents.

3. Pest and disease control

The main threat to water hibiscus is leaf blight, but none of them are too serious. If damage is found, 50% thiophanate-methyl can be used for control and prevention.
