How to grow colorful peppers in pots better (pot cultivation methods and planting techniques of colorful peppers)

I often see colorful peppers planted in pots on other people’s balconies and in small courtyards. The fruits are not big but very plump and very beautiful.

This kind of pepper is generally called colorful pepper, and it is also called lucky star.

This colorful pepper is a vegetable variety that is edible, medicinal and ornamental. It is generally used for bonsai cultivation and comes in seven colors: yellow, green, cyan, white, purple, orange and red.

If you also want to plant some in your yard or balcony, please read on and I will share with you the planting methods.

In fact, colorful peppers are highly adaptable to the environment and can be grown as long as the environment is not particularly harsh. Even if you have no experience, you can basically grow them by following the methods shared by Brother Shan.

First, sowing:

As long as the temperature is between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, sowing can be carried out all year round.

Use a seedling cup filled with clean river sand, put 1 to 2 seeds in a cup to a depth of about 1 cm, and then place it under diffuse light. Spray the river sand every day to wet it. Small sprouts will emerge in about 10 days, and then water it thoroughly once.

When the seedlings have 4 to 6 leaves, they can be transplanted.

Second, put it in the basin:

Flowering and fruiting plants are suitable for shallow glazed pots, and the pots should have the characteristics of strong air permeability and good water permeability.

When transplanting seedlings, place the seedling cup on the ground and tap it a few times to shake off the river sand, leaving the fine river sand attached to the root tip. The potting material can be mixed with freshwater river sand + humus soil + garden soil + perlite in a ratio of 3:3:3:1.

Third, watering:

Colorful peppers like a humid environment, but avoid waterlogging in the soil. You can water the colorful peppers that have just been potted once, and spray the leaves once in the morning and evening every day.

When watering in the later stage, you can water it thoroughly when the soil surface becomes dry and the color of the flower soil becomes lighter. When watering, wait until there is water at the bottom of the flowerpot.

Fourth, pruning:

About a month after the colorful peppers have been planted in pots, some of the branches will become leggy and the number of branches will not be large.

At this time, the buds are dwarfed and cut to promote the growth of side buds. The more side branches there are, the more branches will bear fruit in the future. This can increase the number of fruits. It is recommended to keep a height of about 15 to 20 cm for the first pruning.

Fifth, fertilization:

The first fertilizer and water can be applied about 20 days after transplanting into the pot. It is recommended that you dilute "fermented rice water" with water in a ratio of 1:3 to apply fertilizer to the soil.

Rice water contains a lot of "nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium" which can provide the nutrients needed for the growth of colorful peppers. About one month after potting, you can use 1200 times "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" to promote flowering and fruiting. Once a week for three consecutive times.

Sixth, secondary pruning:

The colorful peppers that have been dwarfed will grow a large number of side buds. These dense branches will block each other's ventilation and light.

The leaves cannot carry out effective photosynthesis, so the main thing is to thin out the branches appropriately. First, prune the dull branches and leaf buds in the crown, and dwarf the long branches for the second time to fill in the blank branches.
