Can the dried chicken manure that has been stored for a year be used (how long does it take to use the chicken manure that has been dried in the open air)

Chicken manure is a good fertilizer, even dried chicken manure can be used as fertilizer . Dry chicken manure is best composted and fermented, or mixed with other organic matter and piled together for closed fermentation. It can be both mature and sterilized. Moreover, if the fermented chicken manure is deeply plowed into the soil in summer, or mixed with water to water flowers and vegetables, it can be used . So, can chicken manure still be used after being piled in the open air for a year?

Can the other party still use dried chicken manure after one year?

Dry chicken manure can be used after one year . If the chicken manure is fully fermented and mature after one year, it can be used as fertilizer, otherwise it cannot be used. Dry chicken manure can be used after one or two years, but if it is stored for too long, such as more than two years, the fertilizer effect will decrease .

①Chicken manure ingredients

Chickens have short intestines and cannot fully absorb nutrients from feed. The organic matter content of chicken manure can reach 65%, the crude protein content is about 30%, and the content of three major elements: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is about 8%.

②Chicken manure as fertilizer

Chicken manure is beneficial to improving soil . It can improve the soil's aggregate structure, increase air permeability, and play a role in retaining water and fertilizer.

Moreover, it is a good raw material for organic fertilizer . However, people often experience seed burning, root burning and seedling burning after applying chicken manure. It cannot achieve the desired effect, so it is particularly necessary to use chicken manure correctly.

③It can only be used after fermentation and decomposition

Chicken manure should not be used directly . Rural people spread dry chicken manure on idle land in summer and then turn it deeply into the soil. Two months later, wheat is sown or rapeseed is transplanted. Chicken manure quickly decomposes under the dual effects of high temperature and moisture, and it is the simplest way to fertilize.

However, if the weather is dry, or the interval is short, the chicken manure is not fully decomposed, which will also cause seedling burn. It is difficult for dry chicken manure exposed on the surface to ferment on its own, which is a wrong approach.

The correct way is to compost the chicken manure in advance and then use it during the sowing and growing period. There are many ways to compost it, mainly divided into two types: farmer's traditional fermentation and factory-based organic fertilizer processing.

Traditional method of fermenting chicken manure as fertilizer

After the chicken manure is dried, it is mixed with wheat bran, rice bran, etc. to increase the carbon-nitrogen ratio, and then water is sprinkled to control the humidity between 60-65%. It is piled up for fermentation. The height of the pile should not be higher than 1.8 meters and the length should be about 2 meters. The length is not limited.

Cover with agricultural film or plastic sheeting, and when the temperature rises to 70℃, turn the pile and add water, and then stuff it again until the temperature drops to room temperature. When the chicken manure is loose and has no odor, it is completely fermented.

Traditional fermentation is also limited by local temperature and climate conditions. In high-altitude mountainous areas and in winter, the fermentation time is too long or it is difficult to ferment. Artificial drying and biological fertilizer treatment such as Bacillus subtilis are needed to speed up the fermentation speed. Generally, it can be fully decomposed in 10 days . This is factory-based organic fertilizer processing.

Fresh chicken manure processing method

Nowadays, there are small dryers and processing equipment on the market, and general farms can process organic fertilizers at any time .

Fresh chicken manure contains nitrogen fertilizer. If it is left on the surface for a long time, it will cause nitrogen volatilization and loss. If it is placed in a greenhouse, it will cause ammonia to burn the seedlings. Drying fresh chicken manure in time or drying it in an oven for harmless treatment is an effective measure to improve fertilizer efficiency.

After being composted, chicken manure can kill pathogens, larvae and eggs such as root rot, stem rot, wilt and verticillium wilt in the chicken manure, reduce the harm of antibiotics and avoid the threat of diseases and pests.
