How to plant radish? Steps and simple methods of planting radish and cultivation techniques

Radish is a very popular root vegetable, and its planting area in my country is also very large. Now it is gradually time to plant radishes, and many farmers are beginning to prepare for radish planting. So how should radishes be planted?

White radish planting technology and management

1. Planting time

Radish cultivation is mainly based on variety, that is, season. During the growth period of spring radish, it is generally sown in early spring from February to March, and the growing period is about January to February.

In high-latitude areas such as East and West North China, seeds should be sown around April. Summer radishes are generally sown in May and can be harvested after July.

The time for planting radish seedlings depends on the planting site. Warm regions such as North China and Northwest China are mostly sown in July and August, while cold regions should sow in early to mid-July.

2. Land preparation

Before planting radishes, the land must be prepared and fertilized, and all the soil must be turned over to ensure that the soil is loose and has good drainage, and the bed surface must be well prepared.

3. Watering to establish roots

When planting radishes, first spread the seeds evenly on the treated soil surface, then cover with soil, water thoroughly to establish roots, cover the entire planting area with mulch, and cover to retain water and moisture. In addition, pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention during the rainy season to prevent the roots of radish plants from being soaked and rotten, which will affect the growth of the plants.

4. Fertilizer and water management

Soon after planting, radish seedlings will grow. When the radish plants grow new leaves, it is necessary to increase fertilizer and water management. Generally, fully decomposed farmyard manure is selected, and thin fertilizer is applied frequently. In addition, after the plant matures, topdressing should be applied in stages to promote plant growth.

Radish planting precautions

1. Soil

When choosing soil, you should choose fertile, loose soil rich in organic matter. Before planting, you should prepare the land and apply fertilizer to make the soil loose and have sufficient base fertilizer.

2. Watering

Radish requires more water, and its water content is positively correlated with its yield and quality. It is recommended that everyone should ensure a balanced supply based on the characteristics of the radish growth cycle and its water needs.

Drain in time after a rainstorm. Excessive water can easily cause root flooding, cracked roots or root rot. Pay attention to watering in hot and dry seasons, but try not to water at noon, otherwise it will easily cause the tender leaves to wilt and the fleshy roots to rot.

3. Nutrients

Radishes have very high requirements for nutrition. Boron deficiency will cause the fleshy roots to turn black and become hollow, so potassium fertilizer should be added appropriately during the period of fleshy root expansion, and seedling protection fertilizer should be applied according to actual conditions from the time the seedlings emerge to the time before the seedlings are fixed.

When the seedlings grow two true leaves, a small amount of fertilizer should be applied. After the second thinning, topdressing should be combined with intertillage and weeding. After that, topdressing can be carried out according to the appearance of the seedlings, and can be combined with irrigation and fertilization.
