When to plant chrysanthemumsChrysanthemum can be propagated by sowing in spring, by cuttings in spring and summer or late autumn after flowering, by division in autumn, and by root division and transplanting of chrysanthemums before May, while by cuttings and transplanting of chrysanthemums before June. Chrysanthemum planting methodThe main methods of growing chrysanthemums include cuttings, division, grafting, layering and tissue culture, among which cuttings are usually the main propagation, which are divided into bud cuttings, young branch cuttings and leaf bud cuttings. Softwood cuttings are the most widely used method, and the time is from April to May every year. Cut 8-10 cm of tender branches as cuttings. After cutting, they need to be well managed and a maintenance temperature of 18-20 degrees is provided. Most varieties will take root in about 20 days and can be transplanted into pots after one month. Seed Planting Method1. Before planting, the seeds should be germinated to increase the germination rate. Generally, the seeds are mixed with wet sand and covered with 1 cm of soil. The temperature is kept at around 10℃~25℃. Water is sprayed frequently to keep the soil moist. It will germinate after about 3 weeks. 2. Transplant the germinated plants and plant them in the soil. After planting, press the roots into the soil. Be careful not to go too deep. Generally, the depth should be controlled at about 3 to 4 centimeters. After watering, control the temperature at about 20℃. 3. When the plant grows to 10-12 cm, pinch the top for the first time, and when 6 flowers grow, pinch the top for the second time. During the growth period, apply nitrogen fertilizer every 10-15 days. After the flower buds are formed, apply liquid fertilizer once, and then no fertilizer is needed. Cutting planting method1. Choose a chrysanthemum that is growing well, pick a thick branch and cut off about 10 cm in length as a cutting, keep the upper leaves, remove the dead flowers and excess leaves, and the lower end of the branch can be cut at a 45-degree angle. 2. Generally, choose soil that contains more nutrients. You can also mix river sand, peat soil, perlite, etc. to prepare the cutting medium. Keep the medium soil moist, insert the selected branches and compact them. 3. After that, water it thoroughly and place it in a ventilated and cool place to take root. After the leaf buds in the upper part grow out, you can expose it to light appropriately, but avoid direct sunlight. After it takes root and survives, you can transplant it. Chrysanthemum maintenance and managementThere are many varieties of chrysanthemums with different growth habits, but most of them like a warm environment. The suitable growth temperature is around 19 or 20 degrees. They like moist soil, but watering should not be excessive or cause water accumulation. It is a sun-loving plant and can be exposed to more sunlight during the growth period, but shade is needed in summer. The daily light time is about 12 hours. |
