What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Jianlan

Jianlan cultivation method

Jianlan is an orchid plant, which is generally propagated by division. It likes shade and avoids direct sunlight. It likes moisture and avoids dryness. The suitable temperature for its growth is between 15℃-30℃, and it is suitable for growing in loose and breathable sandy loam.

When cultivating Jianlan, it is best to use sufficiently breathable flower soil to cultivate it, which can reduce the chance of root rot. It is also necessary to pay attention to proper watering and fertilizing to promote its vigorous growth.

Watering method

Jianlan grows faster under warm and humid conditions. During the growth period, the substrate should be kept moist and soft, especially before flowering and in the seedling stage. The moisture content of the substrate should be around 70%. In summer, the air humidity should be controlled to around 80%.

Fertilization method

Jianlan is a fertilizer-loving plant. During the growth period, fertilizer should be applied mainly according to the growth of the plant, generally once every half a month. The fertilizer is mainly decomposed organic fertilizer. If the growth is good, urea or potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be applied 1 to 2 times. After fertilizing, pour clean water to rinse the leaves.

Pruning methods

During the maintenance process of Jianlan, the withered, yellow, broken and diseased leaves should be cut off frequently to facilitate ventilation, leaving only strong buds. It is appropriate to have 1-2 flower buds in each pot.

Precautions for Jianlan cultivation

Jianlan has poor heat resistance and should not be placed directly outdoors during high temperatures in summer. A 70-80% plastic shading net can be used to reduce the temperature. When the weather is hot and humid, air circulation should be increased, and water mist can be sprayed on the surrounding ground to achieve the purpose of cooling and increasing humidity.
