How to repot Gloxinia

How to repot Gloxinia

1. Time to change the pot

Generally, it is necessary to change the pot during the winter dormancy period.

2. Steps of repotting

1. The soil used is a mixture of one part nutrient soil and one part peat soil. It is best to add a little base fertilizer. You can also mix the ingredients of the soil yourself, but the key point is to ensure that the soil is breathable. In addition, you should water it appropriately, but not too much.

2. The sphere is required to be dormant. After completing the first two steps, we need to dig it out of the previous pot and put it in a new pot. If the sphere has too many messy roots, you can do some pruning, but be careful not to over-prune.

3. Find a flower pot of suitable size. The size of the flower pot should be based on the size of the sphere. The pot still needs to be slightly larger than the ball, and a radius of two or three centimeters is good. If the pot is too big and there is too much soil, the soil will not dry out easily after watering. If the bulb remains moist for a long time, it will have serious consequences, such as the roots being prone to rot. There should be holes at the bottom of the flowerpot to allow water to drain out, so that it can be more breathable. It is best to cover it with materials that are breathable and water-permeable, such as palm leaves.

4. Do not bury the entire bulb in the soil; leave its upper part exposed. Its buds start to grow from the upper part of the sphere, and the tender buds will easily rot in the soil. Up to this step, the repotting procedure is complete, and you still need to pay attention to its daily cultivation.

3. Maintenance after repotting

After repotting it, pay attention to hiding it, place it in a warm environment, and water it regularly. It is best to sprinkle water on it with a watering can every day, which can promote its growth. As long as you take good care of it, it will grow very well.
