How to propagate Ficus ginseng

Cutting propagation

The season for cutting propagation of ginseng fig depends on the specific region. Cuttings are generally taken in March in the south and early spring in the north.

The specific steps of cutting propagation are: first, it is best to select one-year-old strong and thick branches as cuttings, keep a few leaves on them and then cut them into 15cm-20cm sections, and insert them into plain sandy soil, carefully maintain them, and keep them moist and hidden. When the ambient temperature is kept between 25-30 degrees, it will germinate quickly and has a very high survival rate. After the plant takes root, it can be moved to the nursery for cultivation. Cutting propagation grows fast and has many branches, and is a commonly used propagation method for ginseng fig.

Layering propagation

Layering propagation of ginseng fig has very high requirements on branch softness, and the large branches of the banyan tree must be soft.

The specific steps of layering propagation are: first prepare a flowerpot with soil and place it next to the mother plant, then press a qualified side branch into the flowerpot, press stones on it, allow it to grow normally, strengthen maintenance, and then it can be cut off from the mother plant after two months. In addition, you can also select branches from the crown of the mother plant for high pressure, which is easier to operate and takes shape faster.

Seed propagation

For seed propagation of ginseng fig, berries need to be collected in advance, and then the berries need to be washed and dried before they can be sown.

The specific steps of sowing propagation are to sprinkle seeds and berry residue on the prepared fertile and loose potting soil without covering it with soil, and then ensure sufficient sunlight and frequent watering. In this way, it will sprout and take root quickly.
