Orchid planting methods and techniques

Orchid planting methods and techniques

1. Planting method

1. Soil selection: When planting orchids, use coarser humus soil, which can be mixed with an appropriate amount of garden soil. It has better air permeability and contains nutrients, which is more conducive to later growth.

2. Choose a pot: When planting, it is recommended to use a plastic pot with holes on the side, which has good air permeability and is conducive to watering. Or you can use a clay pot, which is breathable, but be careful not to use a ceramic pot, which is neither breathable nor water-permeable and can easily cause root rot.

3. Potting: When planting, put broken tiles at the bottom of the pot to improve drainage. When burying the soil, the soil should not completely cover the pseudobulb, otherwise it will not be conducive to ventilation. Most of the pseudobulb should be exposed, but the roots should not be exposed. Just pile them into a cone shape.

4. Paving: After planting, spread a layer of moss or small stones on the top of the soil, which can regulate moisture and also looks beautiful. In addition, it can slow down rainwater erosion.

2. Skills

1. Light: It is very sensitive to light and cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. When planting, be careful to avoid strong sunlight at noon. It is best to plant between 8 and 10 in the morning or 5 to 7 in the afternoon. In addition, the lighting time in the later stage should not exceed four hours.

2. Watering: It is best to use rainwater for maintenance and watering, and do not use tap water directly. Be careful not to water from the middle, but slowly add water from the edge of the pot.

3. Disease: If disease is found during maintenance, the diseased parts should be removed in time and the corresponding drugs should be sprayed for prevention and control.
