How long is the growth cycle of chestnuts?

Introduction to Chestnut Growth

Chestnuts grow on chestnut trees. The main chestnut producing areas in my country include Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Guizhou and other provinces and regions. Chestnuts have a strong ability to adapt to the environment and can be planted on plains or at an altitude of 2,800 meters.

Chestnut growth cycle

Chestnuts will sprout in early May, enter the flowering period from late May to early June, and slowly mature between September and October, and then fall naturally. Some of them can be dropped by tapping gently. There is a thorny shell on the outside, so you need to be careful when picking them.

The chestnut growth cycle is about 3 months, and it matures from September to October every year.

Growth rate of chestnut

Chestnuts grow out from the tip of the fruiting mother branch, and mainly go through four stages: filament exposure, filament straightening, anther dehiscence and filament withering. The whole flowering process takes about 15 days.

It takes three months for chestnuts to mature and be harvested from the pollination of female flowers.

Chestnut growth cycle management

An adult chestnut tree produces 13.4 kilograms per year. If 60 trees are planted, the yield will be about 400 kilograms.

Temperature management: Chestnut trees prefer a warm environment and are suitable for growing in an environment of 15 degrees. If it is too hot or too cold, it will affect its growth and lead to a decrease in yield.

Fertilization management: Base fertilizer can be applied to chestnut trees when they are planted, and topdressing is required in time during the growth period, mainly using nutritionally balanced compound fertilizer.
