Three key points for peach bonsai maintenance

Three key points for peach bonsai maintenance

Avoid Yin

Peach blossoms are very sensitive to light. When there is sufficient light, the plants grow healthily, flower buds form easily, and they bloom early.

In an environment with insufficient light and shade, the plant tends to grow too tall, the branches are slightly weak, the leaves are small and thin, light in color, and easy to fall off. This causes the interior of the tree to become bald, malnourished, with few and thin flower buds formed, premature aging of the tree, and a short flowering period.

Therefore, when planting peach trees in a patch, pay attention to the spacing; when planting in pots, keep the pots at a certain distance. At the same time, pruning should be strengthened, trees should be dwarfed, the crown should be controlled, and lighting conditions should be improved.

Avoid moisture

Peach trees are very aerobic and afraid of waterlogging. If the soil is waterlogged, the roots will easily suffocate and rot. In mild cases, the plants will experience gum flow, leaf drop and premature aging. In severe cases, the branches will wither and the tree will die.

Therefore, when planting peaches, you should choose a plot with high and dry terrain, a groundwater level below 1 meter, and sandy soil with good drainage and ventilation. For heavily compacted land, its structure should be improved through deep plowing and application of organic fertilizer.

During the growing season, we should strengthen tillage and loosening of the soil; during the dry period, we should water appropriately to prevent excessive watering and excessive humidity; during the rainy season, we should strengthen ditch digging and drainage. Create a loose, well-ventilated soil environment to prevent waterlogging and root rot caused by lack of oxygen.

Avoid alkali

Peach trees prefer acid and dislike alkali, have shallow roots and love air, so you should choose loose, well-ventilated acidic soil.

In alkaline, heavy and compacted soils, the plants grow poorly. In alkaline soil with a pH above 7.5, roots are prone to rot, iron deficiency chlorosis, and poor flowering and fruiting.

During cultivation, organic fertilizer should be applied heavily. More attention should be paid to the potting medium. If the soil becomes alkaline, ferrous sulfate should be applied to wash out the salt in order to adjust its pH, improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil, and promote the normal growth and development of the plant.
